OCTOBER 2012 – the 10th month of a number 4 year, making this our turnkey month of #5 - change and fun and adventure

Welcome to that energy of relationships and better connections with self and others:
For Romance and creativity this month use the colors of blues and pinks . October Sacred stones associated with the energy of Libra and Scorpio are Opals and Tourmaline. Opals are said to be the stone of Libra. IF this is your birthstone Libras this is a talisman of hope and embodies the colors of all precious stones. The mercurial color shifts of Opals resonate with the Air sign of Libra and the mercurial qualities of that sign.
Libra or the 7th house is learning how to be centered and grounded, how to balance obligations to others with my obligations to myself Did you know the astrological sign of Libra rules the kidneys, bladder, hips Libra is sacred to RAVEN the messenger and Bear, and another of their totems is Butterfly as they are Butterfly Clan in American Indian tradition as are all the Air signs. . Their plant is the MULLEN and their color is brown Where do you have Libra in your chart and where do you desire and work for these traits and where would these colors be lucky for you?
Tourmaline is the lucky stone for Scorpio (Or the house or area within your chart where you have this energy) Tourmalines are many colored but whatever color you choose this stone balances the polarity of its wearer. Green for healing, Blue to more clearly communicate, pink for love and so on. Tourmalines are said to deflect negative energy and many healers have wands made of this wonderful stone.
So, let’s use Opals or pink tourmaline with the sun in Libra until the 23rd and then, when the Sun enters Scorpio at 11:30am PDT on the 23rd, lets switch to the dramatic, red, black, cobalt blue colors and stones of a more colorful nature like agates, and sapphires to assist you in the processes of inner balance which are available from the universe. I always advise that for fall we bring in a great deal of black tourmaline, and obsidian to help us create sacred and safe space.
With so many earth changes in place right now, Use the energy of nature this month and find herbs, and stones which feel good to you and use them to create a magical energy around and within yourself. Many of you may not recognize that the Month of October has had many traditions and celebrations through the ages.
But first lets begin with the monthly Astrology, October first we are now down from 9 planets retrograde or not moving forward as they normally do, Last month and now we only have 5 retrograde: Planets trying to move us inwards, rather than forward: Jupiter in Taurus retrograde until 12/25: Uranus retrograde in Aries until 12/9.
Ceres Retrograde in Pisces until 11/6… Chiron Retrograde in Pisces until 11/10
Neptune retrograde back now in Aquarius direct on 11/9
October 1, 2011 begins with the Moon and North node in Sagittarius asking us to really reach forward and find our own truth and freedom (you surely are seeing that on the news aren’t you?) the Sun in Libra until the 23rd asks us to find a sense of balance and with mercury, Saturn, Venus and Juno all in Libra 10/1 we seem to begin the month with a strong desire for balance and to help others. Please remember the challenge of Libra is to also recognize that self help is as necessary as anything during the time when we are feeling so strongly for and about others.
In alignment with some of the Spiritual energy below the sky gifts us with a v/c or moon void of course in Pisces time from October 8th at 9:51am PDT until Monday October 10th at 5:57am when the moon moves to Aries. On the 8th Venus the planet of love and what we desire moves to watery and psychically natured Scorpio, and our desire for MORE connection to source will become more powerful.
This time opens a powerful weekend for dreams, manifesting and perhaps connecting to nature of that which feels sacred to you. Please use this weekend if you can for a bit of an escape from your routine world and enjoy the energy which asks you to Plan nothing and be open to miracles:
Yom Kippur on the 8th and this time opens a 10 day window which I always look forward to each year. This is a time of atonement, connections to angels, and a time when forgiveness of others truly will come back to you. I always attempt to use these 10 days to let go of the past and be open To recognizing the human factor of everyone on this planet. (just an idea)
The full moon with the sun at 18 Libra, and the moon at 18 Aries is on the 11th at 7:06pm PDT oftentimes called the Full Hunters moon asks us to begin to gently and easily let go of energy. And on this day as Uranus the planet of change going backwards, opposes Venus what we want. The planet Jupiter opposing Venus who by now is wearing her Scorpio Garb means that we are going to have a very powerful energy trying to connect us to others, and perhaps delivering us messages which we need to sit down and take the time to hear.
I sense such power during these few weeks in October and in alignment with this time is one of my favorite Celebrations; Sukkoth a 7 day celebration this year beginning at dusk on October 12-19, 2011 pm Scripture states that God’s people were to REJOICE during the fall festival of Sukkot – NKJ Leviticus 23:40 ‘And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. No matter your spiritual tradition we all need more rejoicing don’t we?
On the 13th Mercury the planet of ideas and communication moves to Scorpio and again we move deeper into the inner journey into self and better understandings of old patterns, feelings and emotions as that FULL Moon on the 11th asked to strip away, eliminate, and simplify our lives by releasing the past in order to make room for a new future.
By the time of the first century the Jewish people had developed a number of traditions to enhance the joy of the Festival of Sukkot . .Though I am not Jewish in Tradition I love the candle lighting and celebrations of joy and gratitude’s. So maybe for us all during the 8th of October through the 20th to celebrate and make atonement for kind of an early new year as we head into the darker time of fall and energy moving into the earth.
On the 23rd as the sun enters Scorpio: we can all use the Scorpio moon mantra: I let go of all resentments in my life. I have the ability to transform my life. I am open to the expansion of mind and spirit. I delight in the sensuality of life and Did you know the Astrological Sign of Scorpio rules Sexual organs and energy of releasing and eliminating in your Body?
Scorpio is sacred the healing SNAKE energy and . SCORPIO is a fixed Water sign … Their plant is the THISTLE and their color is Orange, their minerals are copper and malachite, and their clan is FROG clan.
Frog clan (all the water signs are frog clan) is said to be magical as the frogs burrow in the dirt, the drought comes and all seems dying, then the first rain UP pop the frogs and thus in the alignment with Scorpio being the sign of DEATH REBIRTH AND RENEWAL is their sacred animals. during the time we have Scorpio energy we can all utilize this magic. Where is Scorpio in your chart? Where do you desire to die away, be reborn and renewed constantly?
On the 23rd we have the moon in Virgo moving v/c or timed out from 1:47pm PDT until 8:49am the next morning, so the weekend could be a very powerful time of bring wholeness and healing since this is what Virgo really excels in. So, if you could Plan accordingly and recognize that The Dark of the moon is a magical wishing energy this month on the 24th, 25th and 26th until the new moon at 12:56pm PDT on the 26th.
On the 26th we have our October new Moon at 3 Degrees of Scorpio New moons are time of GROWTH . A seed planting time and a time of new beginnings. This new moon when things begin to grow and increase has the moon (our emotions) the sun (the now) and Juno (Equality in partnerships) sitting right together in Scorpio, with Mercury and Venus a few degrees away in the same sign.
Venus and Mercury together ask that we bring passion and our feelings and emotions into relationships and let go of petty jealousies and really concentrate on what is truly important. DO not sweat the small stuff is my theme for October 2011.

For you to heal the past and your future, what needs to be released in October 2011 to bring wholeness and joy to your life. And then ask yourself what you need to be planting on that new moon on the 26th to bring passion and desire to LIVE, grow , transform and renew your life?
This holy and sacred month of course always ends with the doorway to the darker part of the year, and many cultures celebrate the end of October in honor of those who had died. The ancient Persians celebrated Mordad, dedicated to appeasing the Angel of Death. The Hindus celebrate a festival of the dead called “Durga.” The ancient Egyptians celebrated the Day of the Dead in November, and the Mexicans and Peruvians commune with deceased relatives during the “Days of the Dead” at the end of October and beginning of November. The Christian holy day, All Hallows Eve on October 31st is the day before All Saints Day
To me Halloween and this time of year has always been about honoring what is no longer alive in my life, or my world. And giving gratitude and Joy with what I have had rather than sorrow for not having it anymore.
Costumes and celebrations during this time have the same hidden meanings of the 2 Jewish Holidays I have mentioned above. Celebrate your past and let go of pain and sorrow this month, and begin to build a new world and new future as we move closer to 2012 and a 5 year of change. Want more information?
